What To Do When You Don’t Know What To Do

Uncategorized Feb 01, 2017

I get this question all of the time and the answer is always: do whatever you can or nothing at all for now. When you are stuck, you can use any tool you know how to use…or you can cry and eat ice cream and do some graceful begging or chanting (from the book, How To Heal Yourself When No One Else Can).

I used to get stuck in very bad places in my journey and eventually realized that everything is a season. It passes and moves and ebbs and flows. And you must just ride with it.

How to Heal: Clear Fear

In the FEAR chapter of How To Heal Yourself When No One Else Can, there are many simple and effective techniques that will help. Choose a couple a day and use them for a few minutes.

What is happening in the body when we are stuck and miserable? Our body is in resistance mode; and that includes resistance, even to positive change. In our energy system, it means that our triple warmer meridian (the “papa bear” or “fight, flight or freeze” energy in our system) goes into overprotective mode and it actually halts all attempts for us to change/move/shift because it perceives we are in danger.

How To Heal: Make Baby Steps to Healing

It’s very very hard to get unstuck when your triple warmer is trying to help you just survive. That’s why even the tiniest exercise to calm that fear down, can really help. Do it from bed, from in the shower crying, it doesn’t matter…. just take baby steps.

Pushing too hard or too fast can actually derailing your healing. So your new pace is “baby steps to healing…”

I’m talking 1 minute here at a time.

How To Heal: Take a Break

And if you can’t take baby steps and need to cry and eat ice cream like I mentioned before, do that instead. And when you feel a tiny bit of relief, try to do something small to shift your energy again.

This is how it works. You build on each tiny moment of “relief.” And soon you will have new insights, new hopes, and more. But please just know that these times are normal. And the times I’ve had the biggest breakthroughs in my own healing followed the very worst times where I thought I’d never survive (emotionally or physically).

With you all the way!
